Scaffolding on Western Sydney sites

On site

  • Class B gantry up before the structure on street-front sites
  • Lifted, tied and re-certified as each level tops out
  • Hop-ups moved outside the other trades' hours
  • Inspections at the intervals the WHS Regulation requires, record kept on site

Street-front sites in Blacktown, Parramatta and Penrith usually carry council conditions for footpath scaffold and overhead protection. We supply the scaffold drawings and engineering the permit application needs, and the Class B gantry goes up before the structure so the public interface is protected from day one.

On a residential flat building the perimeter scaffold rises with the decks. As each level is stripped the scaffold is lifted, tied and re-certified, hop-ups are moved around the trades rather than in front of them, and the stair tower lands where the trades and the crane can use it. Hire is priced per square metre per week after the included period, so the builder can see what a program slip costs.

Western Sydney's larger sites often need loading platforms for the crane and lift-shaft scaffold inside the core. Both are priced as their own lines so the head contractor can award the perimeter alone if another contractor holds the internal access.

How scaffolding is priced in Western Sydney

Scaffold is quoted as a lump sum for erection and dismantle with an included hire period, then a weekly rate per square metre if the hire runs longer. Overhead protection, loading platforms and shaft scaffold are separate lines. Council permit charges for footpath scaffold sit with the builder.

Questions Western Sydney builders ask

Who applies for the footpath scaffold permit?

The builder holds the permit and pays the council charges. We supply the drawings and the engineering the application needs.

How fast can scaffold be altered on a Western Sydney site?

Alterations are usually done outside the other trades' hours, so access is ready when the next crew starts. A same-day alteration is a phone call.

Are your scaffolders licensed?

Yes. High risk work licences for the class of scaffold, and a handover certificate the builder keeps on site, re-issued after every alteration.
